Directed by Carlos Zamora. From vibrant madrigals of the Renaissance period to sacred Baroque brilliance. Works by Maddalena Casulana and Sulpitia Cesis feature alongside the rich romanticism of Fanny Hensel, the expressive lyricism of Amy Beach, bold contemporary soundscapes of Stef Conner, Louise Drewett and Sarah Ann Marze, the lyrical beauty of Priscila Vergara and hopeful introspection of Victoria Benito. Featuring a special pot-pourri of madrigals arranged by South Bank Singers’ member Marian Smales. Beautiful harmonies and intimate reflections combine to showcase the richness and diversity of choral music written by women across the centuries.

Our last concert...
Of all the Birds - A Winter Chorus

Our winter 2025 concert 'Of all the Birds - A Winter Chorus' featured a captivating afternoon of choral music inspired by the enchanting beauty and song of birds.

 

Directed by Carlos Zamora, this evocative programme included music spanning 6 centuries, from the Renaissance period up to the 19th century. Featuring works from composers including Mendelssohn, Stanford, Ravel, Gibbons, Janequin, Vautor, Guastavino, Bartlet and others.


This concert raised £400 for the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

South Bank Singers  summer concert 2024 to celebrate St Clement's 150th anniversary

Our summer 2024 concert included movements from Jesu meine Freude by J S Bach, Bruckner's Ave Maria, Like as the Waves by Stef Conner, Justorum animae by Stanford and Christus factus est by Bruckner. There was also the first performance of Misa St Clements, a mass specially written by our music director, Carlos Zamora, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of St Clement's Church.
